TSA PreCheck for Four International Airlines
TSA PreCheck is a facility provided to passengers for
quickly boarding the plane at the airports. Let us understand how it works. TSA
PreCheck is an expedited screening program for those passengers who are considered
to be of lower risk category. At present these are about 200 domestic airports
in USA at which this facility is available. The passengers, who can be US
citizens, US nationals or US lawful permanent residents, can apply to TSA for
5-year members of this program on payment of nominal $85 fee. For existing
members, this can be renewed for $70 fee for another 5 year term. However, this
renewal shall be done before 6 months of due expiry date of the membership.
Okay, this is done on the part of passengers. What benefits
does TSA provide? TSA provides the passengers with a ‘Known Traveler Number’
using which he can board the domestic and international flights originating
from US or from Nassau or Bahamas, as also the domestic connections of the
international flights, at the TSA PreCheck counters at airports. The benefit is
that the long queues at the airports are avoided. So far as children are
concerned, all children below the age of 12 can join their parent or guardian
in this program. The passengers can look for TSA PreCheck insignia on their
boarding passes to know whether they are eligible for that route or not.
The latest development w.r.t. TSA PreCheck program is that 4
new foreign airlines have also joined the program. These include Spain-based
Air Europa, Canada based Flare Airlines, El Salvador based Volaris El Salvador
and Italy-based ITA Airways. With this the total number of participatingairlines reaches 83. Since the airlines boarding passes carry the insignia of
this program, the participation of the airlines becomes important.
The program is also available for those passengers who have
enrolled in Custom and Border Protection Trusted Traveler Program, Global
Entry, Sentri and Nexus programs.
