What Do Business Class Air Tickets Generally Come With?

Business class is generally the next higher cabin class of travel as compared to economy or premium economy class. In fact, a few decades back, airlines used to have economy, business and first classes only. Premium economy was introduced later on by EVA Air in 1991, in between the economy and the business fare classes. So, business class has been long existent on airplanes. This is also called as Executive class in common parlance.

This cabin class comes with higher airfares than economy or premium economy. It also comes with a number of benefits for the passengers which are not there in the lower classes of travel. Generally, the key areas where this segmentation is applicable are higher levels of comfort, more privacy and higher privileges.

a)      Wider leg room between the seats- Leg room primarily defines the extent of comfort which an airline extends to its customers. An airline provides more leg room as cabin classes get higher.

b)      More seat space- The seat space offered is also an important determinant of comfort, especially for the passengers who are a little bulky. Economy class comes with tightly packed seats wherein there is just sufficient space for a passenger of average built to sit. This can be a little discomfort and irritating for the passengers. However, this is relieved to a good extent in case of business class flights.

c)       Change in configuration of seating, such as middle seat vacant, to allow for more elbow room- To make seating even more comfortable, some airlines might decide to let go of the middle seat and keep it vacant.

d)      Higher entertainment options, in terms of movies, magazines and other material.

e)      Special meals menu which resonates with the executive class of travel- The airline might want to entice you to book business class flights by offering better perceived cuisines in this class.

f)       More privacy than in economy or in premium economy class- Even when there is not a private door to open or close, there is more private space available than in economy or premium economy classes.

g)      Sufficient space for working using the pen and paper or laptop.

Travelling in business class also entitles you to higher earning of points in the loyalty rewards program which can be redeemed at a number of locations. Further, there can be certain benefits by way of special vacation packages or deals which are offered only to travelers of this cabin class.
