Profiling the Likes and the Wants of the First Class Passengers
First Class cabin is the most privileged class of air
travel. It comes with all the best
benefits and privileges which could be got from an airline company while flying
on a plane. However, the benefits not just are meant for the in-flight
experiences but also for on-ground support at the airports. It is rather
interesting to know what type of passengers travel in this class in order to
judge their likes and dislikes.
The price of the first class is generally at least 2-3 times
more than the business class, and the business class fares are about 3 times
expensive than economy class travel. So, if the fare for economy class of a
flight is $100, the First Class fares can be expected to be around $600. So,
the first point of profiling of First class travelers is that they have at
least 6 times more spending power than the economy class travelers.
Now, a person who can spend this much of money, he would
certainly like to feel a cut above the rest. On his mind, his exclusivity is
more important than finding the deals which can reduce the fares. He takes
pride in spending more and might not necessarily look for first class flight deals which just reduce the cost of travel.
Therefore, the airline companies try to improve upon their product offerings to
this class of travelers.
The segmentation of the offerings among the classes of
travel has to be done in well-planned manner so as to offer substantially
improved and higher-end amenities to higher class than the lower ones. When
speaking of the First Class passenger, they might not like waiting at airports,
so the whole process of check-in and security screening is expected to be done
in an expeditious manner. Airlines put
up special counters for this purpose.
Second, since this class of travel is most likely to be used
by the rich, the popular and the powerful people, they would expect highest levels
of privacy and security-two of the most essential requirements. Airlines do
make it a point to provide good level of privacy by proper designing of their
cabin, private washrooms for first class passengers only and highly trained
cabin crew which knows how to treat these passengers in the best possible way.
Third, it is pertinent to provide the highest standard of
dining, entertainment, working and staying comfortable all through. This is
another dimension that sets it apart from the other cabin classes. For this
reason, the seats have more legroom and can be turned into flatbeds, have more cushioning
and there is a provision to provide complimentary pillows, blankets and other
paraphernalia which is required for comfortable flying experience. Many of
these amenities are not provided in the other classes of travel.
Do First Class Deals
Really Matter?
When you are searching for the flights online, you would
find many agencies and airlines also offering first class flight deals. Do
these really matter? Are not the agencies treading in the wrong direction when
these are offering fare deals? If not these deals, what else can the agencies
offer their passengers who want to travel in First Class?
